The LatinDance Competition is an Open Event, for those wanting to Participate in the LatinDance Competition.
The LatinDance Competition Categories are below.
- All levels of Competency Salsa Freestyle for Beginners, Advanced and Professional Latin Dancers!
- This is a Recreational Dance Competition.
- It's Purely for the Fun.

Registration Cost: $40-00 per LatinDance Couple. NB: Declaration & Release Form will be required to be signed.

Rules and Conditions of Entry.
Qualification for Entry.
Categories: Beginners Salsa, Advanced Salsa, Couple Performance are only open to Amateur Dancers.
Group Performance category may have one professional dancer.
Amateurs will be required to sign a declaration that they are not professional dancers.
Amateur: Persons or couples that do not get paid to teach or perform Salsa.
Professional: Persons or couples that receive payment for teaching or performing Salsa.
Number of entries are limited for some categories, Register Now!
NZ Salsa Latindance Competition Categories
* While dancing and performing lifts, jumps etc. dancers need to exhibit good understanding of salsa rhythms, footwork and connection
Beginners Salsa
* Dancers must not have more than approx 1 year of dance experience
* Not to have placed in previous Salsa/Latindance Competitions
* Not to be competing above �E Grade�
* Salsa music will be DJ selected on the night, approximately 3minutes 30 seconds
Advanced Salsa
* Advanced cannot enter Level 1 (Beginners)
* Salsa music will be DJ selected on the night, approximately 3minutes 30 seconds
Professional Salsa
* Professional only competitors
* MUSIC: Competitors to supply own choice of music.
Music should be no more than 4 min maximum.
Music should be 100% salsa, with no song edits e.g. as per original recording.
Music should be supplied on CD format with only the one music routine track .
An additional CD should be supplied with the same track but on another brand of CD.
Couple Performance
* Couple Performance cannot enter Level 1 (Beginners)
* Music: see Performance criteria below
Group Performance
* Music: see Performance criteria below
* One Professional dancer is allowed to perform with the group
Performance Music Criteria - For all Performance Categories Competitors are:
* To supply own choice of music.
* Music should be no more than 4 min maximum.
* Music should be 80% salsa with 20% being available for any style of music.
* But only 3 songs, maximum, can be mixed for one routine.
* Music should be supplied on CD format with only one music routine track per CD.
* An additional CD should be supplied with the same track but on another brand of CD.
Judging Guidelines.
* Timing 40%
* Overall Presentation 10%
* Appearance 10%
* Partnering 10%
* Style 10%
* Choreography 10%
* Audience Reaction 10%
Photos and Video Footage.
All dancers will be required to sign a release for any photos or video footage taken at the competition.
Only official Kantuta cameras (video & still) are permitted to film at this event.

The LatinDance Competition is Great Entertainment, and is only! Part of the nights events. The LatinDance Competition is a visual spectacular for the public.
In addition to the LatinDance Competition, which runs for approximately 2 hours of the evening’s entertainment, are the following acts;
Kantuta, International Entertainers;
Kantuta 'the latin sensation' is inspired by the musical influences of the group’s varied cultural backgrounds. Kantuta perform a unique style of modern Latino Music and rhythms including Salsa, Merengue, Modern LatinDance Tunes and Classic Latin Favourites.
The Latin Fever Dance Company;
Latin Fever are New Zealand’s exponents of LatinDance and Samba Performance. With an International Dance Troupe performing and Showcasing Latin American Dance Styles in full colourful Costumes, this is something that can't be missed!! Latin Fever have performed throughout New Zealand, in the Pacific and Australia.
NZ Youth Salsa Team;
The NZ Youth Salsa Team (Pictured left) features as an opening act.
Tango Tiempo. Tango Tiempo have been performing professional Tango shows in New Zealand and Australia since 1999. Dancers John Flower and Felicity Rogers return again this year to heat up the dance floor with the seductive Argentine Tango. Visit their website www.tango.co.nz
